Disclosed are a wind power generation apparatus, a tower barrel, and a method for suppressing the tower shadow effect of a tower barrel. The tower barrel is provided with suction through-holes penetrating through a peripheral wall thereof, with the suction through-holes being circumferentially distributed along the tower barrel. The tower barrel is further provided with a suction apparatus. The suction apparatus can perform suction for the suction through-holes from outside to inside. According to the tower barrel and the method, when suction is performed for the suction through-holes at a windward side, the adverse impact of the tower shadow effect can be weakened or eliminated, thus prolonging the service life of a variable pitch bearing, reducing noise, and increasing a wind energy utilization coefficient. When suction is performed for the suction through-holes along the orientation of the surrounding flow detachment, the vortex-induced vibration can also be suppressed. In addition, during suction, a suction force can be adjusted at any time according to actual conditions, thus making the flexibility higher. When a sucked airflow is discharged to the interior, the sucked airflow can also function to perform cooling by means of heat exchange and prevent external rainwater, sand, dust and other matter from entering an air deflector or a hub.
