The method comprises: determining, according to historical browsing data of an electronic reading object, whether the electronic reading object satisfies a preference condition; and if the preference condition is satisfied, automatically downloading preset content of the electronic reading object to the local. An electronic reading object can be downloaded without pausing browsing when a user browses the electronic reading object, and user operations are simplified.
