A color gamut mapping method and device. The color gamut mapping method comprises: determining a mapping target color gamut of an original color gamut in the same gamut space; obtaining a Lab value of a color point (P) in the original color gamut, determining, according to the Lab value, a coordinate position of the color point (P) in a hue plane corresponding to the original color gamut, and determining a region where the color point (P) is located; if the color point (P) is located outside a mapping target region, determining an intersection of a horizontal line (h) where the color point (P) is located, a boundary line of the original color gamut, and a boundary line of the mapping target color gamut; and determining a mapped point (p') of the color point (P) on the boundary line of the mapping target color gamut on the basis of a ratio of an area (A) defined by the intersection and intersections of the original color gamut and coordinate axes to an area difference (S) between the original color gamut and the mapping target color gamut. The invention alleviates problems related to uniformity and level of detail of color points mapped to a boundary.
