The invention relates to a UPS system (1) in which a machine cabinet (16) is equipped with the following: an AC/DC converter (7) which is connected to a DC voltage intermediate circuit (9) on the output side; a DC/AC converter (8) which is connected to the DC voltage intermediate circuit (9) on the input side and which comprises power output stages (33) and filter inductances (34); a motor/generator (10) which is electrically connected to the DC voltage intermediate circuit (9) and which comprises a flywheel mass that is coupled to the rotor thereof; a bypass (11) for connecting the AC/DC converter (7) to the DC/AC converter (8) in series, wherein a bypass switch (12) is arranged in the bypass, a controller (14) for the AC/DC converter (7), the DC/AC converter (8), the motor/generator (10), and the bypass switch (12); and a fan (24) which suctions air out of the surroundings (25) through air filters (26), blows the air in the machine cabinet (16) through a heat exchanger (27), and discharges the air again. The heat exchanger (27) is arranged in a coolant circuit (35) together with a coolant pump (37), cooling bodies (38) for the power output stages (33), and coolant channels (46) which comprise stator channels (48) that run through a stator (40) of the motor/generator (10).
