The present invention relates to a composition comprising acibenzolar-S-methyl as an effective ingredient for controlling Bursaphelenchusxylophilus disease and a method for controlling Bursaphelenchusxylophilus using the same. The controlling effect of acibenzolar-S-methyl according to the present invention was identified in vitro to be attributed to induced resistance. Induced resistance generally elicits an effect with even a small amount and exhibits insecticidal efficacy in the mechanism of expressing a gene in plants, thereby producing neither toxicity to human bodies nor environmental pollution. Hence, induced resistance allows the development of eco-friendly drugs against Bursaphelenchusxylophilus disease and can be used to highly increase the feasibility of developing a Bursaphelenchusxylophilus disease-controlling agent of a new concept. In addition, conversion from the trunk injection method of a nematocide, which is conventionally used to control Bursaphelenchusxylophilus disease, tothe soil drench or foliar spray method of an induced resistance agent leads to the advantage of bringing about an effective control at lower cost and extending a coverage of spray application of Bursaphelenchusxylophilus disease-controlling agents.
