A method for use in capturing a panoramic image on a mobile device and the mobile device. The mobile device comprises a sensor and a camera. The method comprises: the camera captures a first image at a first moment and the sensor senses a first pointing vector of the camera when capturing the first image (S310); the sensor senses a measured pointing vector of the camera at a second moment (S320); insofar as the degree of variation of the measured vector relative to the first pointing vector is greater than or equal to a first capture triggering threshold or the time interval between the second moment and the first moment is greater than or equal to a second capture triggering threshold, the camera captures a second image and the sensor senses a second pointing vector of the camera when capturing the second image (S330); and, insofar as a stop capturing criterion is satisfied, a panoramic image is produced on the basis of the multiple images captures (S350).
