The present invention relates to an extract of Syringa vulgaris L. meristematic cells consisting of cell walls of said cells and/or of the cell content of said cells. The present invention also relates to a cosmetic use of the extract of Syringa vulgaris L. meristematic cells, for a soothing action of the skin and/or mucous membranes, and also to a cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising an extract of Syringa vulgaris L. meristematic cells as defined in any one of claims 1 to 3, and a cosmetically and/or dermatologically acceptable carrier, said composition comprising 0.00001% by weight of said extract of Syringa vulgaris L. meristematic cells relative to the total weight of the composition. The present invention further relates to a cosmetic method 1 for softening the skin and/or soothing, comprising an application to the skin of the cosmetic composition or of the extract of Syringa vulgari L. meristematic cells, and also to a use of a cosmetic or dermatological composition as above, for improving the appearance of the skin of a subject.
