An ultrawideband (UWB) antenna is disclosed comprising a planar top with opposing first and second edges which may be parallel, and a first planar side joined with the planar top at the first edge and forming a first acute angle therewith. The antenna includes a second planar side forming a second acute angle with the planar top and joined therewith at the second edge to mirror the first planar side about the planar top. The UWB antenna has a higher gain in a direction parallel to the first and second edges, relative to a direction perpendicular to the first and second edges.
