The present invention provides an iris recognition unlocking method and system based on an intelligent terminal. The iris recognition unlocking method comprises: collecting current iris information; extracting a current iris feature of the current iris information; determining whether the current iris feature matches a preset iris feature or not; and if the current iris feature matches the preset iris feature, releasing the locking of a screen of the intelligent terminal. The iris recognition unlocking system comprises a collecting module, an extracting module, a determining module, and a control module. By using the technical solution of the present invention, the screen and applications of the intelligent terminal can be unlocked based on iris recognition, the user can instantaneously complete unlocking without touching the intelligent terminal, and it is convenient to operate. In addition, iris recognition has higher safety coefficient, and the information security of the intelligent terminal can be further guaranteed.
