Systems, methods, and computer program products for reading electronic tags, such as RFID tags (66). A tag reader (58) transmits an excitation signal (62) having a plurality of carrier frequencies (64). The tag reader (58) receives the response signals (68) and filters the received signal (74) into a plurality of frequency channels (90) each corresponding to one of the carrier frequencies (64). The tag reader (58) cancels out the carrier frequency (64) in the signal occupying each frequency channel (90). The remaining signals may be processed using Independent Component Analysis to recover colliding messages (70). The recovered messages (94) may then be decoded to extract the data contained therein.
