Provided is a location privacy protection query method for VANETs in a fog computing architecture. The method comprises: road-side units (RSUs) and an on-board unit (OBU) all registering with a third-party trusted authority (TA), wherein a ring is formed between neighboring road-side units (RSUs), the road-side units (RSUs) in the ring, as fog nodes in the ring, all have predecessor nodes and successor nodes, and the adjacent road-side units (RSUs) in the ring have a shared key; when the on-board unit (OBU) accesses vehicular Ad Hoc networks (VANETs) for the first time, the on-board unit (OBU) and the road-side units (RSUs) carrying out two-way access authentication with each other, and the road-side units (RSUs) issuing temporary query codes PID to the OBU; and the on-board unit (OBU) and the road-side units (RSUs) accessed by same completing the query of a location-based service using an anonymous forward chain generated based on the ring formed by the road-side units (RSUs). In the present invention, an anonymous forward chain technique is applied to the process of vehicle nodes of a VANETs protocol carrying out service query. The anonymous forward chain technique is used, thus effectively protecting the location privacy of the vehicle nodes.
