The method comprises gathering, by each node of a plurality of nodes of an energy network, a set of energy statistics of each node, the set of energy statistics including information about losses in the node caused by the electrical components and connections and/or by voltage and/or current conversions occurring in the node; communicating, by each node, the gathered set of energy statistics to a computing system located in at least one node of the plurality of nodes; and computing, by the computing system, a routing decision for transfer an amount of electrical energy from a source node to a destination node based on the communicated set of energy statistics of all the nodes, on data identifying the source node, on data identifying the destination node, on data about the amount of electrical energy to be transferred and on data about a time by which the electrical energy needs to be transferred.
