The present invention provides a method for measuring the activity of a DNA virus or a unicellular organism, the method being characterized by having: 1) a step for preparing a target nucleic acid held by a DNA virus or a unicellular organism; 2) a step for preparing a primer in which an amplification range by PCR using the target nucleic acid as a template is a length of 1500-2800bp; 3) a step for performing quantitative PCR using the target nucleic acid and the primer; and 4) a step for converting a result of the quantitative PCR to the activity ability of a DNA virus or a unicellular organism. The present invention also provides a method for measuring the sterilizing power of an active energy ray irradiation device.
