The present invention, namely a wireless communications system employing continuous phase modulation and physical layer security primitives relates in general to security of wireless communications and more particularly to security in the physical layer of wireless communications systems. Today we experience an ever increasing need for broadband communications offering high level security and privacy based on low power consumption engines. The use of Continuous Phase Modulation (CPM) techniques in the wireless communications systems is very attractive due to its constant envelop signaling nature and the subsequent low power consumption on the power amplifier circuit. However, the background art does not contain any physical layer security provisions when employing CPM. The present invention is a wireless communications system entailing security primitives at the physical layer and employing CPM. Specifically, security is achieved by introducing noise on the transmission signal in a controlled manner, so that, in comparison to the legitimate receiver, a potential eavesdropper suffers a degraded channel quality (FIG.l). The invention can have a wide spectrum of applications where increased security and privacy are vital, in particular in the context of the Internet of Things (loT) in commercial, governmental or military settings.
