METABOLIC SIGNATURE AND USE THEREOF FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF GLAUCOMA

The present invention relates to a metabolic signature comprising at least four metabolites selected from the group comprising arginine, butyrylcarnitine (C4), decenoylcarnitine (C10:1), dodecenoylcarnitine (C12:1), hexoses, histamine, methionine, methionine sulfoxide, octadecenoylcarnitine (C18:1), octadecadienoylcarnitine (C18:2), phosphatidylcholine diacyl C34:2 (PC aa C34:2), phosphatidylcholine diacyl C34:4 (PC aa C34:4), phosphatidylcholine diacyl C36:4 (PC aa C36:4), phosphatidylcholine acyl-alkyl C40:1 (PC ae C40:1), propionylcarnitine (C3), spermidine, spermine and tyrosine, wherein said metabolic signature is indicative of glaucoma in a subject. The present invention also relates to a method for diagnosing glaucoma in a subject and/or for identifying a subject as being at risk for glaucoma; and to a method for treating glaucoma in a subject. The present invention also relates to a kit for implementing the methods of the invention.
