[Problem] To provide an animal habitation investigation method by which the number of individual animals can be more accurately counted. [Solution] This animal habitation investigation method includes: an imaging step for imaging an area to be imaged by causing a flying body to fly along a set flight route; an extraction step for extracting a still image at a prescribed timing from the captured image; a registration step for registering detection target animal information in a storage means; a detection step for detecting a detection target animal image from the still image on the basis of the registered detection target animal information; a correction step for accepting a correction that, if an image that should not be detected as a detection target animal image was detected, excludes the image from the detection target animal image; a counting step for counting the number of detection target animal images on the basis of the results of the detection step and the results of the correction step; and an output step for outputting the counting results. In the registration step, the detection target animal information can be updated on the basis of the results of the correction step.
