This coil component, which is a common mode choke coil for example, has a bottom surface formed for mounting onto an object. The common mode choke coil comprises a magnetic core having a winding core section and flange sections, a wound wire wound around the winding core section of the magnetic core, and a magnetic plate connected to the flange sections of the magnetic core. The winding core section extends along a winding central axis that is orthogonal to the bottom surface of the common mode choke coil. This common mode choke coil is configured such that even if magnetic flux leaks, other components are less susceptible to being affected.
