SYSTEM, METHOD, AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING MUSICAL INSTRUCTION USING COLORING SHEETS BASED ON A COLOR-ENCODED MUSICAL NOTATION SYSTEM

An approach is provided for providing musical instruction using coloring sheets based on a color-encoded musical notation system. The approach involves presenting a coloring sheet with a plurality of shape outlines, wherein the plurality of shape outlines is arranged in a sequence corresponding to respective musical notes of a song, and wherein a characteristic of the plurality of shape outlines correspond to a length of the respective musical notes of the song. The approach also involves scanning, using a scanning apparatus, the coloring sheet after applying color by a set of coloring implements and decoding a user-created score from the applied color of the coloring sheet based on a detected applied color and a detected characteristic of the plurality of shape outlines, wherein each implement of the set of coloring implements corresponds to a respective musical pitch.
