The present invention disclosed the use of 4-substituted phenylamidine compounds of formula (I), for controlling or preventing undesired phytopathogenic fungi in particular rust disease pathogens in agriculture and/or horticulture crops, wherein, R¹ to R⁷, A and L have the meanings as defined in description. The present invention further disclosed a method of controlling or preventing undesired phytopathogenic fungi in particular rust disease pathogens in agricultural crops and/or horticultural crops, by using 4-substituted phenylamidine compounds of formula (I).
