The present invention relates to a method for controlling a digital music box capable of changing songs and an apparatus thereof. The method for controlling a digital music box capable of changing songs comprises: a step of inputting a sound source to an input unit; a step in which a data conversion unit converts the sound source into sound source data; a step in which a data extracting unit extracts time data and scale data; a step in which a factor generating unit generates a time factor and a scale factor based on the time data and the scale data; a step in which a time control unit controls the direction and the rotation speed of a cylinder unit based on the time factor; a step in which the cylinder unit rotates according to control of the time control unit; a step in which a scale control unit selects at least one ascending and descending unit among a plurality of ascending and descending units based on the scale factor; a step in which a protrusion of the selected ascending and descending unit moves up; and a step in which the protrusion collides with a metal piece. Accordingly, it is possible to operate the music box by using a digital sound source, and a user is able to change a song played on the music box by changing the digital sound source.
