Non-Premixed Swirl Burner Tip and Combustion Strategy

The present invention is a combustion strategy using a swirl-flow burner tip, which is a stoichiometric mixture of reactants with high quality dry steam (H ₂ O (g)) added as a thermal diluent (2H ₂ + 0 ₂ ? 2H ₂ 0). The amount of dry steam can be determined by the safety requirements of the reactants and the desired temperature of the post flame gas. It can be seen that the design of the swirl-flow burner tip is for the safe handling of the reactants and is for rapid and complete mixing of the reactants so that the combustion takes place almost premixed outside the swirl-flow burner tip. With the dry steam (H ₂ O (g)) strategically added to the reactants, the ratio of H _{2 /} O ₂ is fixed to consume all of H ₂ and O ₂ (stoichiometric). The burner tips are configured to produce separate reverse vortex reactants from each other.
