OSD Monitor power saving device and method using OSD based smart grid

The present invention relates to a monitor power saving device using an OSD (On Screen Display) based on a smart grid and a method thereof, which receives and analyzes power consumption on the basis of a smart grid, and lowers the brightness or adjusts the contrast the OSD of a monitor at a time when the power consumption is maximum according to the analysis result, thereby reducing the power consumption of the monitor. The monitor power saving device includes: a computer main body for acquiring power usage information from a KEPCO server through a smart grid function and analyzing the acquired power usage information to save monitor power through the power saving control for the monitor during the use of the computer; and the monitor for performing a power saving function when using the computer through the OSD control based on a power saving control command output from the computer main body.
