The present invention relates to visfatin and to a composition for treating primary ovarian insufficiency and premature ovarian failure comprising visfatin as an active ingredient, and specifically, to a composition for treating primary ovarian insufficiency and premature ovarian failure through the stimulation of a primordial follicle and ovarian stem cell activation signaling pathway. According to an aspect of the present invention for achieving the above object, the present invention provides visfatin and the composition for treating infertility and disability comprising visfatin as the active ingredient. In addition, the activity of PI3K and/or mTOR, which are the activation signal transduction pathways of the primordial follicle and ovarian stem cell, and the activity of the Hippo pathway factor of the primordial follicle and ovarian stem cell increases in a concentration dependent manner.
