The present invention relates to an active compound which is administered to an animal together with a feed comprising at least one organic molecule or salt thereof substituted with at least one nitrooxy group at any position to reduce the production of methane from the digestive activity of the ruminant / RTI and / or improving the development of ruminants. The present invention also relates to the use of such compounds in the form of feed and feed additives such as pre-formulations, concentrates and whole feeds (TMR) or bolus.
