According to the present invention, disclosed is a target identification method. In particular, disclosed is the target identification method for identifying a target by extracting a scattering point reflecting a scattering characteristic according to a geometrical characteristic of the target in a W-band seeker which uses dual polarization. According to the present invention, the target identification method using dual polarization comprises: a step in which a received signal reflecting a radar cross section characteristic, in which a radiated signal for detecting a target is reflected and received, is divided into at least a first group polarized signals and a second group of polarized signals in consideration of a polarization direction of the received signal; a step of reflecting scattering characteristics according to the geometrical characteristics of the target from polarized signals belonging to a corresponding group with respect to each of the first group and the second group and calculating a scattering characteristic vector for the corresponding group; and a step of identifying the kind of the target by comparing the calculated scattering characteristic vectors with scattering characteristic vectors according to scattering characteristics by a model of the target which are prepared in advance for identification of the target and stored in a database.
