The present invention relates to a casing for a ventilator and a heat recovery type ventilator having the same. According to the present invention, the heat recovery type ventilator includes: a casing having opposite sides connected with two outdoor air ducts and two internal air ducts; a heating element provided inside the casing such that four corners of the heating element are adjacent to four sides of the casing; four partition plates connected with the four corners of the heating element and the four sides of the casing adjacent to the four corners, respectively, and having four partition spaces communicating with the two outdoor air ducts and the two indoor air ducts; a filter member positioned in parallel to one side of the heating element while being spaced apart from the one side of the heating element by a specific distance; two fluid passage forming plates linking opposite ends of the filter member to the sides of the casing adjacent to the opposite ends to form fluid passages; fluid-passage switching dampers provided on two partition plates, which face the two fluid passage forming plates while being adjacent to the two fluid passage forming plate; an air blower provided in a partition space facing the filter member to generate flowing; an exhaust blower adjacent to a partition space in which the air blower is positioned and provided in a partition space in which the outdoor air duct is positioned to generate flowing; and opening/closing dampers provided in the external air ducts, respectively. According to the present invention, a normal mode, a smoke removing mode, are an indoor air purifying mode may be selectively performed, and indoor smoke is rapidly discharged in the smoke removing mode.
