The present invention relates to a method for producing itaconic acid, which comprises the steps of: (a) culturing a transformant comprising a recombinant vector into which aconitase (acn) and cis-aconitate decarboxylase (cadA) gene are inserted in a medium comprising citric acid; and (b) obtaining itaconic acid from the culture medium of step (a).
