A method and an apparatus for controlling a walking aid device are provided. The walking aid device can be controlled using a personalized walking policy. A preset event is detected during the current walking cycle based on state information about a motion of the walking aid device. At the point of time when the event is detected, a reward value of the state information about the motion is evaluated. If the personalized walking policy is determined to be updated based on the reward value, the personalized walking policy is updated based on the state information about the motion.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
