The present invention is in a field of treatment of renal diseases. More specifically, the present invention, as a method for determining when to stop renal replacement therapy, relates to a method for determining the timing of discontinuation of renal replacement therapy due to acute kidney injury and a diagnostic kit for determining the timing of discontinuation thereof, wherein, in particular, it is possible to successfully predict and determine when to stop the renal replacement therapy when renal replacement therapy such as hemodialysis is performed due to acute kidney injury. The method for determining the timing of discontinuation of renal replacement therapy comprises the steps of: providing a biological fluid sample obtained from a patient undergoing the renal replacement therapy with acute kidney injury; measuring a cystatin C value in the fluid sample provided; and determining the timing of discontinuation of the renal replacement therapy based on the measured cystatin C value.
