A water treatment method and a water treatment system are provided. The water treatment method comprises the steps of: preparing a treatment tank provided with a sludge layer therein; preparing synthetic wastewater containing organic compounds and nitrogen compounds; introducing the synthetic wastewater into the sludge layer; and decomposing the organic compounds and the nitrogen compounds in the synthetic wastewater in the sludge layer. According to the present invention, a treatment method with minimized loss of anaerobic microorganisms is provided.
