Disclosed is a technique for selecting an optimal network path for medium transmission in a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP). A method for selecting an optimal network path comprises the steps of: generating medium channel candidates capable of transmitting a medium between users in the VoIP; evaluating network performance by setting one of the medium channel candidates as a temporary medium channel; and changing the temporary medium channel to a current medium channel according to a result of the evaluation of the network performance, wherein the step of evaluating and the step of changing are sequentially repeated for each of medium channels corresponding to the medium channel candidates.
