A method for manufacturing a tantalum carbide powder according to the present invention comprises following steps of: a) manufacturing a molded body containing a tantalum raw material and a carbon raw material; b) disposing an ignition material on one end of the molded body; and c) conducting a self-propagating synthesis reaction of the molded body to manufacture a tantalum carbide, wherein the average particle diameter of the tantalum carbide is less than the average particle diameter of the tantalum raw material.
