Provided is a method and apparatus for controlling uplink power based on downlink path loss estimation. A method for controlling uplink power comprises the steps of: estimating a downlink path loss of a mobile terminal based on information received from the mobile terminal; determining a maximum cumulative power control value assignable to the mobile terminal based on the estimated downlink path loss of the mobile terminal; based on a difference between reception power and target power for a signal received from the mobile terminal, within a range smaller than the maximum cumulative power control value through a differential transmit power control (TPC) mapper, determining a power control value for controlling uplink transmission power; and transmitting the determined power control value to the mobile terminal.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2019
