The present invention relates to a method for producing synthetic natural gas (SNG) containing methane and C2-C4 paraffin having a composition exhibiting a high heating value of 10,000 to 13,000 Kcal/Nm^3, and to a reactor for producing SNG used therein. The reactor for producing SNG is stacked with an iron-based catalyst layer for FT synthesis in upper stream and a nickel-based catalyst for a methanation reaction in down stream in order of a reaction to allow a Fischer-Troshsh (FT) synthesis reaction and a methanation reaction to sequentially proceed, and adjusts the amount of a stacked nickel-based catalyst to be in 10 to 50 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the sum of an iron-based catalyst for FT synthesis and the nickel-based catalyst for the methanation reaction to form synthetic natural gas of a composition exhibiting a high heating value of 10,000 to 13,000 Kcal/Nm^3 while increasing the yield of SNG by lowering the amount of generation of CO_2.
