Disclosed is an external device coupled with a smartphone. The external device coupled with a smartphone comprises: an external device (30) configured to operate as at least one among a barcode reader, a credit card reader, a wireless communication module, and an RFID reader while being connected to a smartphone (10) through a connector (20) and to provide a space in which the smartphone (10) is to be mounted; and a case (40) disposed in the space, coupled to the external device (30), and configured to protect the smartphone (10), wherein the connector (20) for connecting the external device (30) to the smartphone (10) is disposed on a connection terminal side of the smartphone (10). Accordingly, the smartphone (10) is mounted on the case (40) having the external device (30) coupled thereto, and thus, the external device (30) can operate as at least one among the barcode reader, the credit card reader, the wireless communication module, and the RFID reader. The case (40) is configured to fix the smartphone (10) to a main body (41) using a gender case (42), and the gender case (42) is covered with a top cover (43), such that the smartphone (10) and the external device (3) are coupled and protected. The smartphone (10) is capable of executing a corresponding application for operating the external device (30) through communication with the external device (30).
