The present invention relates to activated carbon with an improved butane adsorption capacity and a method of producing the same. According to the present invention, the method of producing active carbon comprises: a step (a) of attaching phosphoric acid to the kenaf; a step (b) of inserting the phosphorous-attached kenaf into a high-temperature furnace; a step (c) of activating the phosphorous-attached kenaf to produce activated carbon; a step (d) of cooling the generated activated carbon; a step (e) of washing and neutralizing the cooled activated carbon; and a step (f) of surface-treating the neutralized activated carbon. In addition, surface-treating is performed after the phosphorous-attached kenaf is activated.
