The present invention relates to a high definition content protect (HDCP) technology for a display port. The HDCP system for a display port comprises: an authentication block connected to an auxiliary channel (AUX) of a display port, which is a display interface, to authenticate whether a transmitter interface and a receiver interface are devices that support the HDCP, and sharing a password key required for encryption and decryption of digital data; and a password block connected to a main link of the display port to encrypt the digital data at the transmitter interface and decrypt the encrypted digital data at the receiver interface by using the password key. A control unit is configured as a micro controller unit (MCU) to control the authentication block, and the authentication block includes a control unit interface which receives a control signal from the MCU and outputs a state signal of the authentication block to the MCU.
