The present invention relates to a system in which a combined cycle power generation system and a compressed air energy storage system are coupled, and an operating method thereof. The system comprises: a gas turbine unit including a compressor which is arranged on the combined cycle power generation system and allows outside air to flow thereinto to compress the air to a high pressure and recompress compressed air received from a compressed air storage unit, a combustor to ignite the compressed air and fuel to combust the compressed air and the fuel, an expander to expand exhaust gas created by the combustor to make compression work, and a generator to convert the compression work into electric energy; a heat exchanger to cool compressed air compressed or recompressed by the compressor; a compressed air storage unit to store compressed air cooled by the heat exchanger; and a first pipe to supply compressed air stored in the compressed air storage unit to the compressor of the gas turbine. A large quantity of electric energy can be supplied in a time zone with high power consumption, and an operation rate of combined cycle power generation can be increased by lowering a system marginal price.
