The present invention relates to an advanced wastewater treatment method which is performed by an advanced wastewater treatment apparatus including: a flow control tank (10); an anaerobic tank (20) for the treatment of organic matter and phosphorus included in raw water supplied from the flow control tank; an anoxic tank (30) for denitrification; and a membrane separation aeration tank (40) for removing organic matter and separating nitrification and solid-liquid separation. The advanced wastewater treatment method and the advanced wastewater treatment apparatus provided by the present invention make sewage and copper particles in contact by immersing an ammonia removal tank (50) filled with the copper particles in any one of the flow control tank (10), the anaerobic tank (20), the anoxic tank (30), and the aerobic tank (40), make sewage and copper particles in contact by making the sewage pass through the ammonia removal tank (50) after separately installing at least one ammonia removal tank (50) filled with copper particles among the flow control tank (10), the anaerobic tank (20), the anoxic tank (30), and the aerobic tank (40), and remove ammonia combined with the copper particles with solid ammonium nitrate of a solid state by washing the copper particles filled in the ammonia removal tank (50) periodically with aqueous nitric acid solution. The present invention is able to efficiently remove ammonia from sewage.
