There is disclosed a platinum ion chelating dipyridoxyl compound according to formula I, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, for the prophylaxis or therapy of a peripheral neuropathy induced by a chemotherapeutic drug in a patient, wherein the dipyridyloxy compound Is coordinated with a non-coordinated or non-transition metal metal ion, wherein the chemotherapeutic drug comprises a platinum ion.
