The present invention relates to a method for producing a highly unsaturated fatty acid using marine microalgae. The present invention relates to a method which is simple compared to a complex process of the conventional two-stage method using each medium and nutrient inhibition method, and which uses a single medium as an oil accumulation technique by using light wavelengths rather than an oil accumulation method due to nutrient inhibition. Therefore, the method of the present invention is simpler than the conventional oil accumulation method, shortens the processing time because the same medium is used, can secure a higher oil content than the oil accumulation amount according to the conventional technology, thereby having high technical efficiency and excellent economic feasibility.
