Disclosed is a user authentication method based on voice recognition using an artificial intelligence device. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the user authentication method based on voice recognition using an artificial intelligence device, comprises the steps of: performing a first user authentication on the basis of voice characteristics of a first utterance of a specific user; providing the specific user with at least one specific question related to a living history of an authentic user of a device; sensing at least one second utterance which is an answer for the specific question of the specific user; and performing a second user authentication to allow the specific user to use the device on the basis of content included in the second utterance. According to the present invention, an intelligent computing device may be connected to an artificial intelligence module, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), a robot, an augmented reality (AR) device, a virtual reality (VR) device, a device related to a 5G service, etc.
