Disclosed are a high dynamic range (HDR) image generation system, a method and a computer readable recording medium thereof. An HDR image generation system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an image receiving unit receiving a lower dynamic range (LDR) image; a saturated area removing unit detecting a saturated area from the LDR image and removing the saturated area from the LDR image; and an image substituting unit generating a substitution image corresponding to the saturated area and inserting the substitution image to the LDR image of which the saturated area is removed.
