The present invention relates to a method for measuring the affinity of an alpha-factor for a G protein-coupled receptor in Saccharomyces cerevisiae using a fluorophore binding detection peptide with high affinity for a receptor. The detection peptide can be used to confirm the affinity of the alpha factor with a 12,500-fold improvement in sensitivity over the prior art.
