The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition, a food composition, and a food additive for preventing, alleviating, or treating gastritis and gastric ulcer, containing Enterococcus faecalis EF-2001, a culture fluid thereof, or heat-killed cells thereof as an active component. The heat-killed cells of Enterococcus faecalis EF-2001 of the present invention exhibit significant effects of treating gastritis and gastric ulcer by suppressing the production of inflammatory cytokines and nitrogen oxide by alcohol intake.
