Algorithm Techniques for Software Program and Digital Contents Update Improvement by using Binary Patch Method

The present invention improves the compression ratio by minimizing factors used for encoding by introducing a method for segmenting and extending existing copy-based binary patches, and performs data compression of a target file to overcome the inefficiency when a difference between two versions of delta compression is large. Since most binary patching tools create new indexes every time windows are replaced, patterns outside of the windows need to be copied. Therefore, a fixed index of a certain size is used, and the index is not recreated even when the window is changed. The compression ratio can also be increased by selecting and replacing the least recently used index node using a least recently used (LRU) algorithm.
