The present invention relates to a method for operating a dishwasher by sensing a filter closing, which can be operated in an Internet of Things (IoT) environment via a 5G communication network. According to the present invention, a dishwasher can analyze a closed state of the filter of the dishwasher using a deep neural network model trained by machine learning of artificial intelligence. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher includes: a microphone obtaining a drainage sound signal generated when washing water is discharged through the filter when the dishwasher operates; a process analyzing a closed rate of the filter based on the drainage sound signal; and an alarm generation unit generating an alarm in case that the closed rate is at a predetermined level or greater. The operation state of the dishwasher can be analyzed based on the drainage sound of the washing water drained through the filter in accordance with the closed rate of the filter.
