The present invention relates to a marker for diagnosing colorectal cancer or predicting prognosis of colorectal cancer and a use thereof and, more specifically, to a marker composition comprising microRNA-3960 (miR-3960) capable of diagnosing colorectal cancer or predicting prognosis of colorectal cancer patients, a composition and a kit for diagnosing colorectal cancer or predicting prognosis of colorectal cancer comprising an agent for measuring an expression level of the miR-3960, and a method for diagnosing colorectal cancer or predicting prognosis of colorectal cancer using the marker. The miR-3960 according to the present invention has significantly increased expression in colorectal cancer patients as compared to normal persons and significantly decreased expression after surgery as compared to before the patients undergo the surgery and thus, the miR-3960 is expected to be effectively used in clinic as a biomarker useful for both diagnosis of colorectal cancer and prediction of prognosis after treatment and surgery such as recurrence of diseases.
