The present invention relates to a use of colicin D fragment for treating cancer. A composition according to the present invention contains polynucleotides encoding some fragments in colicin D protein derived from colon bacillus as an active component, wherein the fragments selectively kill only cancer cells, thereby exhibiting significant anticancer effects. That is, the present invention solves the toxicity problem for general cells, which has been pointed out as a limitation of an existing gene therapeutic agent, and can be used as a core technology in the field of gene therapy for cancer treatment.
