The non-catalytic hydrogen generation process is provided by supplying hydrogen in a combination of a hydrodesulfurization unit and a solid oxide fuel cell system, suitable for an auxiliary power unit application. The non-catalytic nature of the process enables the use of sulfur-containing feedstocks to generate the hydrogen required to treat the sulfur-containing feed with appropriate specifications for the solid oxide fuel cell. In addition, the non-catalytic properties of processes with fast power characteristics are typically applicable specifically for starting and stopping purposes required for automotive applications.
